Career Change: When Your Work Isn’t Working For You

Are you ready for a new career... but you’re not sure what? Perhaps you’ve been feeling stuck, unsatisfied or even out of place in your present job.  Or you want more personal autonomy or financial freedom. Or you can’t stop thinking, “There’s got to be a better way to make a living.” When I was working in Corporate America, I couldn’t wait to get out. I was literally making me sick. And while it may have been prestigious to work at a Fortune 500 company in downtown San Francisco, I was miserable. And I knew I had to get out. But then what? I wasn’t sure what kind of work would make me happy. I knew I wanted to help people with their money issues, but how could I do that? Should I become a therapist? A financial advisor? I wasn’t sure, but I was determined to figure it out. A friend of mine recommende...Continue Reading

Plan For A Soulful, Balanced, and Financially Sane Holiday Season

Plan for a soulful, balanced, and financially sane holiday season with the Holiday Planner Every year the media asks me for an updated version of my Holiday Planner, so in late September my team updated it, and I'm happy to announce that the newest version is available for free on my website. What's the Holiday Planner? The Holiday Planner is a 25-page ebook used in conjunction with an Excel spreadsheet for planning the holiday season of your dreams. Let's face it -- for many, the holidays are a mixed bag. Sure, we love being with family… we love the sights, sounds and smells of the season, and getting a few presents. However, it can also become a time when we try to do too much in too short of time; we may eat to excess; and we may spend money that we don't have only to receive unwelcome bills in January. My Holiday Planner helps you to avoid the regrets of the holiday season by walking you through the holidays ...Continue Reading

On a personal note — my brother Bobby

Bronze Star Meda This week is the 45th anniversary of my younger brother Bobby's death.  Within two years to the week my father also died.  I think of them both during this time, but mostly of Bobby. There is a picture of me as a blonde haired 22 year-old mother of two receiving the ceremonial flag from an officer at the Air Force base in Sacramento.  It is a day I remember as if it was yesterday and remember trying to fight against the unstoppable well of tears that opened up that day. Today I'm feeling a little sad but I am also frustrated with myself because---two moves in less than two years means that I know that picture is here but I just don't know quite where. So here is a picture of his Bronze Star Certificate.  He was in Viet Nam 6 months as an 18-19 year-old.  I look at my grandson Nicholas today and am so grateful that he feels...Continue Reading

Financially Secure Future Please join me on Wednesday, Dec. 11 on my free webinar, “The Key to Reaching Your Financial Goals in 2014” Oh, here we go! Sliding into the end of yet another year. Before you get too busy with all the holiday festivities, take a little time to reflect and ask yourself: “Did I reach my most important goals for 2013?” “Am I significantly closer to realizing a bigger vision I have for my life?” “Are my finances, work and lifestyle all serving me well?”  Hey, if you’re not where you’d hoped you would be, that’s okay. After all, it’s so easy when we start a new year to be full of big dreams and goals. It feels good to envision what we might accomplish and we get excited about what’s possible.
